SHAILENDRIA

     In March of 2000, this young lady was “Elite’s Beauty of the Week”.  Now, six years later she is still a beauty both inside and out.

     When talking to Shailendria, it is obvious she is a woman of success.  As an entrepreneur, published author, inventor, former TV talk show host, mother, and public speaker, she has always been an achiever. Through the Toastmasters International; Advanced Communication and Leadership Program, she was awarded a Toastmasters Bronze Certification.   

     As the youngest child in a family of four children, she soon learned how to make herself heard.  Shailendria has never been afraid to work for what she wanted.  Her first job, at age thirteen, was on her hands and knees in the Tyler Rose Gardens. 

     Upon graduation from high school, she enlisted for six years in the United States Air Force where she attended Troy State University through the Air Force College Extension Program.  While in the military, she was trained in Automatic Flight Controls, and later cross-trained into Satellite Communications. While working with military aircraft she became interested in flying and now has over 400 private pilot hours.   

     As a United States veteran, she is currently involved with the International Action Center, based in Los Angeles, CA, working to “bring our troops home”. Shailendria has always believed in volunteer work and has been a volunteer for over three years at KPFK Radio Station in Los Angeles, where she served as secretary on the LSB (Listener Station Board). She also served on several local boards here in Dallas; HIV Prevention and Consulting; YWCA youth counselor, and the Dallas Life Foundation-feed the homeless program before moving to California. 

     She has appeared on numerous radio talk shows and television talk shows as well.  Not only has she been a guest, she has also hosted her own talk show, “The Shailendria Show”, from January 2000 until January 2001.  She fell in love with the talk show and media format while appearing on the DCTV show, “The Razor’s Edge”, and has made guest appearances on “The Carmen Show”, and of course, “The Elite News” radio show. 

     Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, she is world traveled and has the reputation of being a person who inspires success.  Shailendria has always taken time to talk to and inspire others who seek the same by being an example. 

     As a native Texan and a Dallas entrepreneur of fourteen years, Shailendria now resides in Los Angeles, CA.  Being inspired by television, she moved to Los Angeles in 2002 to pursue her television career and acting dream.  Since moving she has been on “The District; Scrubs; ER; Crossing Jordan; The Shield”, and several other television shows. 

     Shailendria is also a published author. Her first book, “Get Your Motor Started; the life you change may be your own” is a self-help motivational book. A second book, “Stephan; forbidden love” is awaiting publication and she admits to currently doing research on a third book that is politically motivated and a fourth "Book of Quotes".

     In her spare time, Shailendria loves to travel, read and meditate.  One of her favorite quotes is, “Without change…how do we get it right?” –author unknown.

"Got it Right"   

     Hello and a warm welcome to all.  After that fantastic feature article what else can be said. Well, life goes on and since then I am proud to announce my vocal debut at Santa Clarita's "All Corked Up" , wine club (www.allcorkedup.com). On Saturday January 19, 2008, I sang "It's Raining", by Irma Thomas with the World Famous Eddie Baytos (www.eddiebaytos.com).
